Erik ten Hag has uncovered his satisfaction at Manchester United’s 2-1 win over rivals Liverpool as it supported his conviction that their team can ‘play f***ing incredible football’.

The Red Devils have made a drowsy starting under the Dutchman and were humiliated by Brighton and Brentford in their underlying two rounds of the new Premier League season.

They went into Monday’s home struggle with Liverpool by and large expected to get another drubbing, yet put in a show stacked with heart and grit to throb their upsetting foes, with targets from Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford helping them to a huge achievement.

Tending to Sky Sports post-match, Ten Hag was enthusiastic about United’s longing as an issue of some significance rather than any essential parts to their victory.

“We can examine procedures, but everything rotates around mindset. We can see that attitude on the pitch,” he began.

He added: “I said to [the players] we want to act, not meander aimlessly. Guarantee you are a gathering and battle and be intense. It’s not just about soul out of possession.

“Now and again strikers figure they can’t do it since they need to save their energy for unfriendly exercises.

“Nowadays it’s an interest and that is the very thing that you saw. It fulfills me Rashford and Sancho scored the goals.”
